Do Real Men Make Cupcakes!
Chatting with friends about cooking recently unearthed something interesting. Most of my male friends are happy to eat cupcakes but are not happy to cook them. Does this mean that cooking has a gender bias? Is it unmanly to make sweet treats?
One friend said he was happy to cook a BBQ, but would never even consider baking sweet treats, although he admits to being first in line for a cake or biscuit fresh from the oven!
Is it because men are more adventurous and like to ‘wing it’ when cooking? Perhaps they don’t like to follow a recipe (or apparently any map for that matter)! It can’t be because baking is difficult, after all something like raspberry and yoghurt muffins are a breeze to make.
Has anyone else noticed this reluctance on the part of men to cook things like cupcakes?
